Deirdre Layne

Both healer and businesswoman, Deirdre Layne began her career as a practitioner of energy healing, having been extensively mentored by internationally acclaimed healers. After beginning her career in Los Angeles – where she was asked to participate in an NIH study on alternative medicine – she now maintains a healing practice in Atlanta, although the Earth Clinic communities are her primary focus. As an outgrowth of that clinical practice, Ms. Layne founded Earthclinic.com, internationally recognized as one of the preeminent information providers on alternative medicine and healing. Deirdre is also a nationally ranked medalist in Traditional Karate, is a professional karate instructor, and holds a second-degree black belt. Deirdre earned her B.A. in Philosophy from Mount Holyoke College. She lives with her family in the Atlanta suburbs.

Daniel P. Kray

Ms. Layne chose author Daniel P. Kray to guide this book after working with him for several years on Earth Clinic sites. Deirdre selected him rather anonymously from a freelance contracting website. Yet his initial proposal so clearly stood out from among dozens in its vital energy, which exactly matched that of the Earth Clinic community, that the collaboration was a natural choice and has continued through several productive years and ventures. For this project, Daniel calls on years of experience as a freelance writer and editor, previous work ghostwriting a memoir, and several years working as Senior Editor for Earth Clinic while taking part in that community. A graduate of Williams College with a B.A. in English and Philosophy, Mr. Kray has been Senior Writer and Editor for several websites in addition to magazine and other original work. His experience in publishing, education, travel (six continents), and knowledge of biology, medicine, and exercise prepared him for the Body Axis project. He is a resident of a bucolic New York village.
